2015 was a year of long-anticipated milestones (the 10th anniversary of Katrina, the 5th anniversary of the BP disaster, and the UN conference on climate change), but it was also a year of the unexpected, with film tours of North Carolina and Indonesia and an invitation to the Sundance\/Skoll Stories of Change Lab. The story of Turkey Creek traveled as far as Madagascar and into public conversations among scientists, lawyers, teachers and journalists. Here are a few highlights.<\/p>\n

10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina<\/h2>\n

Literacy for Environmental Justice EcoStewards at Katrina 10th anniversary screening<\/p><\/div>\n

Sundance included\u00a0Come Hell or High Water<\/em>\u00a0in a\u00a0short list<\/a>\u00a0of Katrina documentaries.<\/p>\n

Conservation Law Foundation<\/a>\u00a0(Boston),\u00a0Literacy for Environmental Justice<\/a>\u00a0(San Francisco), and\u00a0Mississippi Center for Justice<\/a>\u00a0(Gulfport) held special screenings and discussions of the film in commemoration of the storm.<\/p>\n

WORLD Channel’s America ReFramed series rebroadcast the film and hosted a\u00a0#katrinastories<\/a>\u00a0twitter chat\u00a0and shared a\u00a0webisode<\/a>\u00a0and film\u00a0clips<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Turkey Creek\u2019s Katrina survival story was featured by the\u00a0Washington Post<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n
